This book takes us into the family of Yeshua (Jesus), and the story is told in the eyes of his sister Hannah. Yeshua is the oldest child in the family and his sibling have been made aware by their parents Emmi (Mary) and Abba (Joseph) that Yeshua is the Son of Adonai who was conceived supernaturally. Even though they didn’t quite understand what is to come from his special nature, many family members had faith in Yeshua, except Hannah. The siblings, like many in history, expected Yeshua to do some superheroic stuff and overthrow the bad government and establish his kingdom here on earth, so they could all become royal.
Hannah is the main character and she is Joseph’s biological daughter. Right from a young age, she couldn’t understand why everyone adored her brother Yeshua, why her parents gave him the special treatment. She didn’t believe her brother whom she’s known from childhood was going to save them. She was filled with so much doubt. This showed how we as humans tend to behave many times regarding the promises of God. We usually wait for physical evidence or a clear view of the possibility of the promises manifesting before we believe.
The character of Hannah was at some point frustrating because of the decisions she made. Hannah’s need for attention and a rich lifestyle resulted in her making the wrong choice of a spouse even when the God-given option was right in front of her… for years. The life lesson learned here is not to base your criteria for making a choice on an area of need. The other essential needs left out in the decision will suffer.
This is my first time reading from this author and I was amazed how she blended the storyline in this novel with biblical events. The transitions of the characters from their childhood to their adult life was smooth. I will definitely read more from this author.
