I’ve been reading books by Wanda Brunstetter recently and so far, they are amazing. Now let me ask you, have you ever been in a situation where you thought the only means of survival was to live a life of lie? Seems intense, even when we already know telling a lie or concealing the truth doesn’t lead to a good end. First of all, I do commend the author’s setting and arrangement of this novel. The beginning part gets us acquainted with the backgrounds and current situations of each character, then moves on to reveal their plans which happen to take place at about the same time.

Sarah who had recently lost her mother was preparing to meet her grandparents whom she has never known. This was about the same time Michelle was running away from an abusive relationship, in need of a better life. Being mistaken for their grand-daughter, Michelle plays along by pretending to be Sarah and goes to live with the lovely Amish grandparents for months.

The spiritual content in this book was amazing. So many scriptures applied strategically on faith, hope, forgiveness (Matthew 6:14), reconciliation with God and more importantly, the love of God. The jar filled with personal writings and prayer helped Michelle reconnect with God. This is where she found hope and guidance. I really loved the character Michelle, I guess I was just drawn with love and pity for her. I wish she told the truth sooner instead of deceiving the old couple., but it was incredible how humble she was and I’m glad the author gave her a beautiful end.

My only disappointment regarding this book is that the owner of the jar filled with prayers wasn’t revealed. I guess this secret will be revealed in the other series which I am yet to read. I do hope the other series which are continuation of this story capture my heart like this one did. I’m eager to know what happens next. Until next time, stay blessed!
