This is the first biblical fiction we’ve read in our book club and this sheds light on why the fans of biblical fiction novels are increasing every day. The royal dance is the first in the series of ‘The lion and the butterfly’ and I loved how the author started this book, giving readers pre-explanation for the behavior of the main character- Jerusha. This is a very beautiful biblical story mainly about a girl called Jerusha. Her father, Jacob with words of wisdom sowed a ‘seed’ of royalty at a very tender age. He made her understand who she is and prepared her to dance for the king- The Messiah. After Jacob disappeared, this seed struggled to grow in Jerusha, she doubted all her father told her and built a wall within her against love. With testimonies of the love of Yeshua Christo, Jerusha accepted who she is despite the difficult time she and her mother went through as servants of Caiaphas.

One lesson that stood out in this book is the evil seed of doubt and fear the devil tries to sow in the lives of God’s children. He knows who we are and the promises of our father and he tries to push us into doubting the love of our father through one thing or the other in life. As an accuser and lair, the devil tries to make us believe that we are worthless, this was one thing Jerusha struggled with. This becomes a covering that hinders us from attaining the promises of our Father.

We will continue with the next in the series next month. Until then, remain blessed!
